Amman - Friday, 19 July 2024 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) is excited to announce the receipt of a new contribution from the Kingdom of Denmark, amounting to approximately EUR 2.41 million. This marks Denmark’s second contribution this year and its 10th contribution since the Fund’s inception, bringing its total contributions to an estimated EUR 26.73 million. Collectively, contributions from all 12 donor countries now total around EUR 353.6 million. This latest contribution is earmarked to support the activities under the Filling the Void project in Northeast Syria. The SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, added: “We deeply appreciate the Kingdom of Denmark’s steadfast support and the enduring generosity of its people. This second contribution this year empowers the SRTF to continue its essential activities across Northeast Syria, aimed at easing the hardships faced by the Syrian people. Frankfurt – Sunday, 19 May 2024 – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund’s (SRTF’s) Management Committee (MC) held its 36th Meeting in Frankfurt, Germany. During the meeting, the SRTF’s Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz briefed members about the SRTF’s operational updates and challenges and the impact on beneficiary communities across Northeast and Northwest Syria. The MC members made several decisions including the approval of three new projects and interventions; two under the Stabilisation Programme to promote the Health and Agriculture sectors and one to enhance the Electricity sector under the Recovery Programme. The new addition of projects increases the total number of SRTF-approved projects to 70 with a total budget of EUR 266.46 million The two stabilisation interventions include firstly, “Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates- Phase VIII.” With a total budget of EUR 3 million, Phase Eight of this intervention aims toprovide comprehensive agriculture assistance to members of six (6) co-operatives; approximately 1,157 farmers in two governorates in Northeast Syria (NES). Additionally, it will introduce water-saving irrigation systems and training sessions on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) underscoring a commitment to sustainable practices. The second intervention reaffirms the commitment to prioritising the health and well-being of conflict-affected communities; “Supporting Health Services in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates”, endeavours through strategic partnerships, to sustain essential healthcare services in seven Primary Health Care Centres (PHCCs) in Ar-Raqqa and a Maternity Hospital in Deir-ez-Zor. The initiative aims to benefit 40,344 individuals, with a budget of EUR 1.8 million. The third, “Sustainable Solar Energy Systems for Silos, Mills, and Bakeries in Northern Aleppo” is an innovative Electricity, EUR 2.5 million, budget project that aims to fortify food security in Northern Aleppo by providing sustainable solar energy systems to bakeries, mills, and silos. By enhancing bread production through renewable energy sources, the project anticipates benefitting approximately 200,000 individuals every month over its 24-month duration. On this occasion, the SRTF Director General Eng. Hani Khabbaz released a statement: “The newly approved projects reflect our unwavering commitment to sustainable solutions and the well-being of communities in Northeast and Northwest Syria. Through strategic partnerships and innovative interventions, we aim to address critical needs in the key sectors ensuring the resilience and prosperity of vulnerable populations. Amman – Wednesday, 1 May 2024 - The SRTF is pleased to announce a significant contribution of USD 5 million (around EUR 4.66 million) from the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the SRTF. This marks the sixth donation from the US Government since the establishment of the Fund, bringing the total amount of the US Government's contributions to a staggering EUR 59.32 million. With this latest funding, the total contributions by all donors to the SRTF has reached EUR 351.19 million. The latest contribution not only reaffirms the United States' position as the second-largest donor to the SRTF since its inception but also highlights the unwavering commitment and support of the US Government towards the Fund's mission. Jeanne Pryor, Deputy Assistant Administrator for USAID’s Bureau for the Middle East, reiterated the United States' steadfast backing for the SRTF and its impact on the ground, stating, "The United States remains committed to assisting the people of Syria in their journey towards recovery and resilience. Our continued investment in the SRTF reflects our belief in the Fund's ability to catalyse positive change and contribute to long-term stability in the region." Eng. Hani Khabbaz, Director General of the SRTF, shared his reflections on the occasion, stating, "As we fold a decade of devoted service to the people of Syria and set our sights on the future, we express our heartfelt appreciation to the United States, one of the three original donors of the SRTF, for the latest contribution of USD 5 million and the unwavering support.
